Free Display Set to Return
Havant Borough Council will once again be holding its annual Bonfire and Firework display at Stockheath Common in Leigh Park, Havant on Sunday 5th November.
The family event for all ages will begin when the Mayor of Havant lights the bonfire at 7.30pm followed by an amazing display of fireworks starting at approximately 7.45pm.
The event, which is FREE to attend, will be the grand finale in the history of how the event is organised, as Havant Borough Council will be looking at options over the coming year to enable the display to continue for future generations.
Councillor Leah Turner, Cabinet Lead for Communities and Housing said “The display enjoyed by thousands is set to return again this year. We will be working to seek alternative ways in how the display is funded in the future as part of an overall review of events provided by the council.
Over the coming months we will be looking to support key members of the community, both groups and businesses to explore the options of this becoming a community led display that remains a safe, secure and spectacular event for residents to enjoy.”
Stockheath Lane and Alsford Road will be closed to traffic from 4pm to enable the event to be set up. Riders Lane will be closed from 5pm, and parking will not be permitted. Visitors arriving by car should use the Havant Borough Council car parks at Greywell – the car parks are a five minute walk from the event, and parking in them will be FREE on that evening from 6pm.
