From August 1 communities across Hampshire will be able to find out exactly what speed enforcement action has been taken on their street by logging on to www.crimereports.co.uk.
The data will in most cases be available the following day and will provide accurate and up-to-date information about measures that have been taken to improve road safety on a local level. This can be found on the www.crimereports.co.uk website by searching under: Advanced Search > Proactive partnerships > local enforcement.
Hampshire Constabulary was the first police force to adopt the online tool in September 2011 to help neighbourhoods to work more closely together to build safer communities. Hampshire Constabulary is now the first police force to publish speed enforcement data in this way.
The partnership project which also involves Hampshire County Council, Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service, the Probation Service and all District and Unitary Councils provides detailed information about crime, incidents, and anti-social behaviour to the public
Chief Superintendent Jason Hogg said: “By adding speed enforcement data to the crimereports.co.uk website we are making it an even more valuable resource for communities across Hampshire and on the Isle of Wight. The information will be collated from our use of fixed and mobile speed cameras, alongside accident data to provide an accurate and up-to-date picture of where speed reduction measures or campaigns could be introduced. This will also help people to plan their journeys, for example children planning the safest way to school.”
