‘Clean up for Summer’ Week

The Leigh Park Community Led Planning Group, made up of residents and agencies living and working in Leigh Park, have been asking residents about issues that affect them. One of the main issues is litter, dog mess and fly tipped waste.

Havant Borough Council are already working to eradicate this problem through the ‘Pick Up or Pay Up’ and ‘No ifs, no butts’ campaign work by issuing Fixed Penalty Notices to anyone found to be dropping litter or do not clean up after their dog.

The Community Led Planning team have decided to assist the council by organising a ‘Clean up for Summer’ week. This will take place from 14th July at different locations around Leigh Park.

The week will see a number of community groups, schools and churches in the area take part in litter picks in local opens spaces, woodlands and play areas.

Many groups have already signed up to take part, including Sharps Copse School, St Francis Church and Leigh Park Community Centre, Community First’s V Team (a team of supported volunteers) amongst others. The event is being support by different organisations including Havant Borough Council, Groundwork South, Community First HEH and Asda.

If your group, street, organisation or business would like to be involved in a clean up activity during this week please contact Andy Wheeler at andy.wheeler@havant.gov.uk or 023 9244 6142
