Commissioner attends final Hampshire Probation Trust meeting of regional managers

Simon Hayes has attended and addressed regional managers of the Hampshire Probation Trust at their ‘final’ meeting prior to the implementation of the Community Rehabilitation Company (CRC). The CRC forms part of the radical changes that are being implemented in the probation service since its inception more than 100 years ago.

Although it is not yet known who will take over locally from the Hampshire Probation Trust, their successors will step into the shoes of an organisation that has delivered on its responsibilities consistently and reliably over the years.  The Trust currently delivers in excess of a 60% reduction in reoffending with the relevant cohort.

In his address, Simon Hayes told delegates that he ‘believes that is a message that everyone must make sure impacts with potential bidders in the CRC process, to ensure that the ‘reducing reoffending’ priority within his Police and Crime Plan continues to be delivered’.

Mr Hayes said he ‘looks forward to working with many of the managers again in the future in the new arrangements, and for those from the Trust who are moving on, he wished them well’.
